Canada’s NEOSSat has been closely monitoring comet 46P/Wirtanen, which you’ll be able to see with the naked eye in the coming days in a dark sky location. 46P/Wirtanen takes 5.4 years to complete an orbit around the Sun. As the comet approaches the Sun, its icy composition melts and produces a tail, which is seen as a fuzzy patch in the sky.
