Elizabeth Cascio, a retired FDNY EMT, was a first responder during both the 1993 World Trade Center Bombing and the 9/11 attacks. In the aftermath of 9/11, she played a crucial role in the rescue and recovery efforts at Ground Zero. By October 2001, she developed a chronic cough, which was later linked to the toxic dust exposure at Ground Zero.
