President Vladimir Putin and Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin joined other worshippers for an Easter service led by the head of Russia's Orthodox Church, Patriarch Kirill, a faithful backer of the Russian leader and an advocate for the war in Ukraine.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy on Saturday balked at Russian President Vladimir Putin’s announcement of an Easter ceasefire, saying air raid alerts were still sounding in the country.

Ukrainian troops at three separate locations along the front lines told CNN that as of 8 p.m. Saturday, there was no sign of fighting easing.
