Bitcoin miner Riot Platforms (RIOT) finds itself a target of a second activist investor, with Reuters reporting investment management giant D.E. Shaw as having taken an unspecified stake.

Investment firm D.E. Shaw has built a position in Riot Platforms and may push it to make changes, two sources familiar with the matter said, making it the second activist shareholder to do so at the cryptocurrency mining company.

Riot Blockchain, a Bitcoin miner, has attracted a second activist investor, D.E. Shaw, following a previous investment by Starboard Value. D.E. Shaw, managing $70 billion in assets, may influence Riot's operations, similar to Starboard's push for converting mining sites into data centers for high-performance computing.
