Prosecutors in Anoka County have charged Nasiah Edward Hinton with 1st-degree attempted murder and 1st-degree assault in connection with the incident, which happened Sept. 27 in Coon Rapids. Hinton, who will turn 17 in May, is being prosecuted in adult court. Each charge he's facing carries a maximum sentence of 20 years in prison if convicted.

Nasiah Edward Hinton faces one count of attempted first-degree murder and one count of first-degree assault in Anoka County Adult Court.

It began on Interstate 85 on Thursday when a trooper said he spotted the 16-year-old going 96 miles an hour in a 60-mile-an-hour zone. Instead of stopping, the teen drove into west Charlotte and onto some back roads.

A seventh person has been charged as part of an investigation into a shooting which occurred on the A41 in Watford in July 2024.
