Residents in southern California are in the middle of a "Particularly Dangerous Situation" as wind stays in the forecast with still raging wildfires, according to officials.

Fire officials say the threat posed by returning Santa Ana winds is "about as bad as it gets" as they work to contain already burning fires and prevent new ones. Meanwhile, schools not damaged or destroyed by the fires are reopening.
