The Ruler of NXT, Oba Femi, made his presence felt tonight on WWE SmackDown. During the opening segment of SmackDown night, WWE Champion Cody Rhodes was interrupted by his Saturday Night’s Main Event opponent,

Oba Femi has achieved notable success in WWE's developmental brand since joining the company, securing victories in most of his matches. Given his potential, fans speculated about his promotion to the main roster after previously dropping the NXT Championship to Ricky Saints at No Mercy. But the authorities didn't pull the trigger.

In an exhibition match that took place at Saturday Night’s Main Event Saturday night in Washington D.C., WWE Champion Cody Rhodes and NXT Champion (and former Alabama Track and Field star) Oba Femi wrestled to a draw.

Drew McIntyre offered some choice words for both Oba Femi and Cody Rhodes after his confrontation with the two champions on Saturday Night's Main Event. He also said that he didn't watch John Cena's retirement match,

With his victory, Evans is set to challenge Oba Femi for the NXT Championship at New Year’s Evil on January 6th, 2026. In the opening match of Deadline, Femi defeated Ricky Saints to regain the NXT Title.

WWE NXT holds their final special event of 2025 with tonight’s Deadline from San Antonio, Texas. The NXT Championship will be on the line as Ricky Saints defends against former champion Oba Femi. Saints took the title from Femi at September’s No Mercy.
