European lawmakers weighed in on what a second Trump presidency means for trade, alliances and climate change.

U.S. President Donald Trump has promised to address a longstanding trade deficit with the European Union, saying he will reverse that by imposing tariffs or making the EU buy more U.S. oil and gas.

The European Union and Mexico have agreed to expand their free trade agreement. This change comes just a few days before Donald Trump is set to return to the White House in Washington. As Reuters has reported,

Speaking to Europe’s elites at the World Economic Forum in Davos, Zelensky laid into many of the European countries that have helped keep Ukraine afloat since the Russian invasion, chiding them for not taking their own defense and the threat from Moscow sufficiently seriously.

Speaking a day after Trump’s inauguration, Ukraine’s president told world leaders at Davos that Europe needs to remain united and “learn how to take care of itself.”

Volodymyr Zelensky has warned European leaders Donald Trump will ignore them if the continent doesn’t take better care of its own defences.
