Chicago Bears fans are not happy about general manager Ryan Poles seemingly deflecting blame for the team's struggles in 2024.
There are a lot of names floating around as the Bears' next head coach. That includes former Seattle Seahawks guru Pete Carroll, among other notable names. However, one name stands out particularly for Ian Rapoport and Tom Pelissero: Detroit Lions offensive coordinator Ben Johnson.
There’s nobody else to blame. Some Bears fans have begun to question whether third-year general manager Ryan Poles is the right man for the job. The Bears fired coach Matt Eberflus in November.
“He runs more than we do,” Seahawks linebacker Derick Hall, who played for Carroll last year, told the Sun-Times on Thursday. “He comes out on the field and he’ll be running 100 [-yard dashes] and throwing deep balls.
The Seahawks offered up their former coach to try and help fix the Bears after surviving one of the most inept offensive efforts an NFL team could muster.
In a year of many lows, coaching has stood out as a weak point for the 2024 Chicago Bears. From gifting the Washington Commanders 13 free yards before the infamous Hail Mary to letting the clock run out with a timeout in their pocket,
In his press conference about the coaching search on Dec. 2, CEO Kevin Warren said the Bears' head coaching job would be the "most coveted job" in the NFL during the offseason.
The Bears have lost 11 straight against the Packers — the longest streak by either team in the storied rivalry — and 26 of 29 counting the playoffs. They've dropped eight in a row at Lambeau Field since a win in 2015.
The Bears embarrassed themselves again on national TV, mismanaging the final two minutes and failing to get in position to end their skid.
Analysis: Rebooting rather than rebuilding will require a new Bears coach with specific abilities and here they are ranked in order of importance.
