As storm systems continue to batter Florida with repeated rounds of heavy downpours and powerful thunderstorms, experts are sounding the alarm over flash flood risks
Rain and storm chances remain elevated Wednesday in Central Florida. A persistent weather front is bringing more rain to our area, and slow-moving showers are raising concerns of localized flooding. The same stubborn front that has been affecting the region for the past few days continues to elevate rain chances.
Realtor.com evaluated 100 metro areas in the U.S. and found that these Florida housing markets are most at risk to flood and wind damage.
An area of strong high pressure over New England will bring strong winds from the northeast pushing water onto and over East Coast beaches. This flooding will be enhanced by a nearly full Moon, which will bring peak flooding during high tides.
Drier air will push into Central Florida, gradually lowering rain chances. From Saturday through early next week, expect more typical late-summer weather with highs in the mid- to upper 80s and lows in the near 70 (even some upper 60s inland), and only isolated to scattered showers and storms, mainly in the afternoon.
