As temperatures drop well below freezing, the Salvation Army’s Cold Patrol is hitting the streets to offer immediate support to those in need.

With lows in the teens across the area and thousands still without power following Sunday's winter storm, the Salvation Army has set up a warming shelter.

Inside the Salvation Army at 2215 Park Avenue in Lynchburg, warmth and relief await those who have nowhere else to go.

The Salvation Army warming shelter is back to provide a safe, warm space for those otherwise unable to escape the cold.

The Salvation Army strives to provide more than just warm shelters. “We bring joy and hope to those who may not be having that or may not feel it. We always try to give hope in every situation and share God’s love with them,” Robinson says that the shelters will be open as long as temperatures are under 39 degrees.
