Heavy rain has caused flooding and landslides that washed away cars, forced evacuations and knocked out power around the Chinese capital.

The dayslong rainstorms have killed 30 people in the Chinese capital and eight in its neighboring province of Hebei, state-run broadcaster CCTV said.

Heavy rains and flooding have killed at least 30 people in Beijing, after a year’s worth of rain fell in less than a week, according to state media. Beijing authorities said they have relocated a further 80,000 residents as rain continues.
