Flooding caused delays on multiple New York City subway lines Monday as torrential rain pummeled the Tri-State Area.
Severe storms hammered parts of the tri-state area Monday afternoon into the late evening hours, flooding City subways, prompting dozens of water rescues and triggering a state of emergency in hard-hit parts of New Jersey.
The heavy downpours wreaked havoc across the city with footage showing commuters overwhelmed by floodwaters in various subway stations.
Travelers were bracing Tuesday morning for bumpy commutes across the New York City area due to residual disruptions from Monday’s torrential downpours, though the National Weather Service said the storms had moved east by then.

According to New York City Emergency Management, Central Park recorded 2.07 inches of rain between 6:51 p.m. and 7:51 p.m. This substantial rainfall marks the second-highest one-hour rainfall total ever recorded in Central Park.
