Firefighters responded to the Lidia fire around 1 p.m. to the 5700 block of Soledad Canyon Road, according to the Los Angeles County Fire Department. By 4:11 p.m., the fire had grown to 80 acres. Officials earlier estimated the fire was burning between five and seven acres around 2 p.m.

Forward progress has been stopped Thursday on a wildfire burning in Acton that has led to evacuation orders, the fire chief for Los Angeles County said.

Los Angeles area fire crews that are already spread thin have a new fire to contend with Wednesday afternoon. The Lidia Fire burning near Acton has burned at least 50 acres and is spreading rapidly in the Soledad Canyon area.
