County clerks in West Virginia will beginning to mail absentee ballots on Friday, marking the official start of the 2024 General Election.

General Election officially begins on Friday, September 20, as West Virginia county clerks will begin fulfilling absentee ballot requests.

Virginia’s 45-day early voting period starts Friday, which is one of the longest in the country. Senator Aaron Rouse is chairman of the committee that oversees voting laws in Virginia, and he says Democrats will continue to reject Republican efforts to roll back early voting.

Virginia voters can begin casting ballots in the presidential race and local elections. While the general election is on Nov. 5, early in-person voting begins Friday at all general registrar’s offices and will continue until Nov.
