After almost a year, the Fossil Gen 6 is finally getting a software update with the April 2024 security patch.
On inquiring about the older-generation Fossil Gen 5 smartwatches and whether they will also get the same treatment, we were told that they are awaiting more clarity on that.
As some Fossil Gen 6 device owners pointed out on Reddit, Wear OS 3.5 has launched for Fossil smartwatches. However, it hasn’t been smooth thus far, with many bugs being reported.
Fossil, though, isn’t yet rolling out that update. Instead, the company is bringing Wear OS 3.5 to its Gen 6 smartwatches, such as Fossil Gen 6, Skagen Falster Gen 6, and others.
Reportedly, the upcoming Fossil Gen 6 smartwatch will have other key features like the SpO2 sensor and built-in GPS connectivity. The current Fossil Gen 5 has a 1.28-inch with an AMOLED panel.
Its last major smartwatch launch was the Fossil Gen 6, which launched with Wear OS 2 in September 2021 and got the Wear OS 3.5 update two years later, in November 2023.
