i want to move to SAS however i had a few questions. Can the dell PERC 5/i cards be used in any motherboard or are they somehow locked to only dell? Also, i see that they are PCI-Express x8 cards, ...
We didn't have any spare PERC 5/i's lying around, so we replaced with a PERC 6/i. The machine booted and is now running, but we're having some IRQ or serial issues (or something else - not sure).
