ERCOT can use backup power from data centers to help Texas grid in winter storm, Trump admin orders
The Trump administration issued an emergency order Sunday night allowing Texas' power grid operator to use backup generators from data centers and other facilities to prevent rotating outages over the next few days. The order, signed by Energy Secretary Chris Wright, comes amid an ongoing arctic blast sweeping through Texas.
After a winter storm and record-breaking snowfall hit the Dallas-Fort Worth area over the weekend, many school districts closed Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday. Warmer temperatures are expected to return Wednesday and improve road conditions enough to put schools back in session on Thursday.
