After much of the United States was pummeled by winter weather over the last week, another storm is poised to impact the East Coast beginning Friday. According to meteorologists, the storm is expected to bring snow, rain and gusty winds from the Gulf Coast to the Northeast, and accumulations could reach disruptive levels in major metro areas.
The forecasts had predicted that the storm could be among the worst in a generation to hit the region. By Monday, it was clear that is exactly what happened.
This weekend’s winter storm and ensuing bitter cold have left at least 25 people dead and caused prolonged power outages for hundreds of thousands, particularly across the southern US.
Warnings have been issued for Michigan, Alaska, and New York as up to 12 inches of snow and winds up to 60 mph are expected.
On Wednesday at 1:39 a.m. EST the National Weather Service issued a winter storm warning in effect until Thursday at 1 a.m. EST for Luce County.
Snow, ice storms and frigid conditions are forecast for the Northeast and Mid-Atlantic regions.
