On Tuesday, Rob Bradford of WEEI posted a picture of Chadwick Tromp, a 30-year-old veteran who has played for three major league teams, in the Worcester Red Sox's dugout. At the time, the Red Sox and Minor League Baseball transaction log had yet to reflect anything about a signing.
The Red Sox also assigned catcher Ronaldo Hernández, who they signed to a minor league deal July 17, to Double-A Portland to make room for Tromp. He appeared in four games for Worcester.
After electing free agency last week, the 30-year-old backstop agreed to a minor league deal with the Orioles' division rival.
