The product, family-sized, 48-ounce cartons of Great Value Chicken Broth, are sold in aseptic paper cartons that could “compromise the sterility of the product, resulting in spoilage,” according to an announcement posted on the Food and Drug Administration’s website.

More than 2,000 cases of Great Value chicken broth have been recalled in nine states. More than 12,000 cartons of Great Value Chicken Broth have been recalled from various states, according to the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and Walmart.

An FDA Enforcement Report said TreeHouse Foods, which made the broth for Walmart, issued a recall on Dec. 11 and phoned consignees in Alabama and Arkansas.
