Fort Worth police have arrested a suspect accused of shooting a man who confronted him as the suspect burglarized a vehicle on New Year’s Day, officials said Friday. Officials identified the suspect as 33-year-old Kenyan Deon Buchanan, according to a police statement.

Detectives are investigating the first homicide of the year in Fort Worth. A man was killed and a woman was detained.

According to the department, 45-year-old Roderic Dennis was arrested for two aggravated robberies and three robberies. Police said Dennis had violated his bond from two robbery warrants from the Tarrant County Sheriff's Office in April.
