During Audubon Zoo Lights presented by Children’s Hospital, Audubon will also collect holiday string lights for recycling at the zoo front gate between Nov. 23 and Dec. 30.
The Audubon Zoo is open daily from 10 am to 5 pm throughout the year. The only official holidays where the zoo closes are Thanksgiving Day, Christmas Day, and Mardis Gras.

One of the Audubon Zoo’s critically endangered western lowland gorillas, 13-year-old Tumani, is expecting a baby, a zoo spokesperson said.
The unnamed newborn is the first for Tumani, a 13-year-old who arrived at the Audubon Zoo in 2017. The last gorilla born there was Praline in 1996, who is still part of the troop, officials said.
