Anand Shah, an Indian-origin councilman, was arrested with 39 others on charges of racketeering, money laundering and other offences in connection with an illegal gambling scheme which netted more than $3 million, reported news agency AP.

PROPSECT PARK, NJ – Anand Shah, a two-term councilman from Prospect Park, New Jersey, has been arrested in connection with a large illegal gambling operation. Shah, who is up for reelection this year, is one of 39 individuals charged with racketeering, gambling offenses, money laundering, and other related crimes.

A New Jersey politician has been arrested in connection with an illegal gambling bust, ABC 7 reports. Anand Shah, a Prospect Park council member, was among 40 people arrested in connection with the bust.
